Impact Report 2025

2025 was a challenging year for the Weizmann Institute. The missile attack in June caused severe damage to the campus, destroyed irreplaceable research materials and resulted in significant financial losses. Yet it was also a highly successful year for the Institute. We are pleased to present the Impact Report 2025.
The report documents the rapid recovery work undertaken on campus following the missile attack, the resilience of the Weizmann community and the strong international solidarity it received. Weizmann Institute President Professor Alon Chen captures the spirit of this response particularly well: “The Iranian missile attack in June caused extensive damage to our facilities — but not to our mission. We are recovering and rebuilding what was destroyed or damaged. The pace has been extraordinary.”
The Institute’s scientific achievements were equally remarkable. Particularly notable was its sixth-place global ranking in the prestigious Leiden Ranking — powerful evidence of the Weizmann Institute’s scientific quality and international impact.
The international recognition of Professor Yifat Merbl also illustrates the outstanding importance of research at the Weizmann Institute. Nature named her one of the ten people who shaped science in 2025.
The report also offers insights into international collaborations, introduces new scientists and highlights the importance of the Institute’s educational programmes, which inspire young talent around the world.
Professor Alon Chen said: “These achievements belong to all of you as well. The Weizmann Institute is an ecosystem of the brightest scientific minds, supported and encouraged by funding and philanthropy that make excellence possible. Your support is essential … Thank you for your friendship, partnership and generosity.”
We would like to thank our members and the many donors who contributed to the Weizmann Emergency Fund in 2025. It is an honour to have stood alongside you in supporting the Institute through this particularly challenging year. Together, we remain committed to science that shapes the future of humanity.
We warmly invite you to explore the Impact Report 2025.
