Max Planck–Weizmann Postdoctoral Programme

The Max Planck–Weizmann Postdoctoral Programme offers outstanding early-career researchers the opportunity to live and work in Germany and Israel for four years. It generates not only excellent research results, but also international networks and formative experiences. We support this programme because it strengthens young talent and helps shape a new generation of globally minded researchers.

“After only a few months, I am already benefiting from working with two research teams and bringing together different perspectives,” reports a fellow in the Max Planck–Weizmann Postdoctoral Programme. This personal experience lies at the heart of the initiative: outstanding early-career researchers immerse themselves in two research cultures, live and work in Germany and Israel, and develop far beyond the boundaries of their individual disciplines.

Over four years, they spend time at both institutions and work on jointly supervised research projects across national and laboratory boundaries. Each year, up to 20 postdoctoral researchers have the opportunity to conduct research in disciplines including physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, and earth and life sciences.

The programme produces not only innovative research results, but also formative experiences, international networks and a fresh perspective on science. We support it because it strengthens young talent and helps develop the next generation of globally minded researchers.
